70mph, that's the fastest speed limit around here. I never speed. Ever. I mean it.

Not a wise thing to say when your car is for sale.

Driving 125mph will not stress a BMW. Will just use more tires, brakes, and gas.

BTW- my car is geared to 152.89mph. I'm sure it's limited by drag before that though. All xi's can do at least ~130mph.

Meh, not really for sale! Have it up there in case anyone makes a good offer. Besides, cars are machines, meant to be used to their mechanical thresholds...

100% agree with you brother, but 90% of buyers prefer their cars babied and shifted at 2.5k rpm. Me? I'm always above 4k rpm, always redline first gear (it's an addiction that can't be fixed) and sometimes second depending on the speed limit.
Every week at least once a week, i speed through the I95 at 5am to visit my folks in vt, i cruise at around 110-130mph for about 20-30 minutes. No need for an autobahn lol. I would never do it without a radar detecter though, cause if you get caught they punish you for life.

I bet you could hit that given enough space. If the M3 can hit 155+ with more or less the same body style, the Xi can as well.

No idea what my top speed is. Higher than the speedo can tell me, I have little doubt. Engine revs to 7k, in manual, the slushbox acts like an SMG (no forced up/downshift) and will hold til engine cutoff.

99.9999999998% chance I'll never actually know.

Don't you mean on a closed course with full protective gear You should be careful though, radar isn't a guaranteed save! Just keep it in mind

Radar is useless at those speeds(especially being the only car in road) I was doing a nice 135mph pace on a 4 lane highway, I hear beep let off gas break beep get down to 90mph and the cops locked on me I got a 90 in a 55.... I mean I guess it's better than a 135 I'm a 55
My car is a 325i and it hits the speed limiter at 137(before the car even redlines in 4th) so I'm sure a 330 could get 155+ with limiter removed

Actually, NO stock USA-spec xi should be able to do 130mph, given that they are governed to 128mph. Given German speedometer optimism, you'll see a bit more than 130mph on the speedometer (I've seen 132mph on the limiter and my speedometer is more accurate than most according to my GPS - a friend's hit "140mph" on his speedometer when hitting the 128mph limiter). The same rule applied to all stock USA-spec E46 (except M and ZHP, which are governed to 155mph).

Euro-spec E46s were limited to 250kph (155mph), but only the non-xi 330 with a manual could reach that speed on level ground with no tail wind. The rest do a bit less - for example, a 325i auto would do 237kph (147mph). Source: BMW brochures.

Seriously? You do realize that the M3 has more than 100hp extra horsepower compared to the rest of the E46 family?

You are either a d-bag or stupid. Do you know what a '~' means?

My xi did not come with a 128mpg governor either.

BMW brochures also tell you that their cars put out less HP than they actually do. When it come to top speed of a family sport sedan, they lie to prevent people from trying.

Seriously? You do realize that the unlimited top speed of an E46 M3 is in the 190mph range right? And that it also does not require an additional 100hp+ to go from 130mph to 155mph unless your car has the aerodynamics of a brick. Sh!t, even a Honda Element is governed at 110mph and that's with 60hp less and the worst aerodynamics possible.
