Stanceworks : Flawless or Full of Fail

I certainly understand that low looks good but I would guess 75% of cars I see "stanced" out simply look ghetto IN MY OPINION. This isn't to start a war but rather to see what the typical stance is on "stance"

The last stance thread got closed fairly quickly. Let's see how long this one lasts.

The cars lowered normally look good.
The cars that have too much camber like that one look STUPID.

I don't like it when it is on performance oriented cars but vehicles that are really just cruisers I'm fine with. For example I love the look of this car.

Stance is fvcking gay, don't care what anyone has to say about it, its gay.

You have a car that sits an inch off the ground, rims that straight up don't fit your car, tires that are holding on for dear life, and typically this fashion usually includes a dumbass tacky sticker, roof racks like you're trying to make a fashion statement (um what), and something really along the lines of pink mirrors, neon green wheels, or some sort of cartoon character stuffed animal in the back seat buckled in, or whatever. All you Vdub kiddos out there.... your jetta is a woman's car, please stop.

Just look at the population who does it. They are children. Unfortunately they think it is the only way to go, but somewhere down the line they will hopefully grow up and realize that "stance" in 2011 is the same thing as carbon fiber hoods and body kits in 2001. Its a fad, and it will hopefully go away.

(thinking about that s2000 where the fenders were torn to shiit because how how "sick" his stance was) imbecile if you ask me...

^^^ YES. When its on a bigger car like 7 series or anything similar I think it looks best. Even when its on some smaller cars I love it too.. but it makes less sense to me.

it looks so stupid. drop/race springs ok, but when it is to the "stance" point it looks like the most ghetto **** i have ever seen. regardless of car. the only cars i have seen that come close to pulling it off are the old audis/vws

IMHO mods should be functional. Non-functional mods (suspension, body, aero, etc) are ghey. Cars need suspension travel to perform at their best in the read world (TRUE race cars - NOT dual function cars, live in a very isolated environment and have different needs/requirements).

Cars with little to no suspension travel will be slow.
Cars with stretched tires will be slow.
Cars with idiotic camber to tuck their stretched tires under the fender will be slow.

What's cool about that? To continue with the analogy, they are the current manifestation of lambo doors.

Who was it that had the tombstones with "Murdered Out", "Altezza Tail Lights", and one with a little symbol or something on it? "Stance" needs to be next in line.

I will say that I would never do this to my car, I just like the look of it on some cars. I may be influenced by the vw crowd (own a gti as well) but I think I get it from the ratrod crowd. Whenever I go to a local car show and one of these show I think they look so cool. Those guys do the craziest things to there car and just seem to have fun. Maybe I am just a fan of there no fvcks given attitude to what other people think of there car.

im not a fan of the rediculous camber like below. i like that not one person in that picture is looking at that car. but something sitting flush with minimal camber works for me.

Like all things, it can be made too look good or it can be made to look bad.

That Ferrari up there is very bad example as it has too much poke in the rear. The civic recently posted is another shoddy example.

The 7-series is more inline with what's "proper."

I think stance/hella flush is fashionable, but then again I am of that generation (I'm 25).

These are street cars and this trend is meant to have an aesthetic appeal; it's style. So these mods do function in that aspect. Looking at this from a performance perspective is completely irrational.
