My computer is so slow

From spyware or stuff.
I bought this computer a year ago and it used to be lighting quick. I know I have a million errors. What program can I "purchase" to clean out my computer?

Install SpyBot.. update it, immunize your pc, and then scan for threats.
Install CCleaner.. check most (if not all) boxes and do a file clean, then go to startup programs - delete any entries of crapware starting up with your pc, and lastly use its registry cleaning feature (scan, then "fix all problems")

I honestly cannot go a day without using CCleaner at least a half dozen times.

Avira and Microsoft Security Essentials are both good but if it's beyond repair then just back up and format it.

Reformatting is for people who like to work harder than they should. No point.

Maybe, but it works every time unless the HD is trash.

Because hitting "next" a few times is harder than manually cleaning the registry?

Lol. Backing up every single program, reinstalling windows completely, updating it, then restoring said programs takes a lot more work than a few clicks.

Not to mention, if you're not reinstalling each and every program from scratch, this defeats the purpose of a reformat - which is to start with a freshly organized registry and non fragmented files. Defragging is an obsolete practice after windows XP anyways.

Clicking 2 buttons to clean the registry/ delete obsolete entries by using CCleaner is much easier, and it actually works.
I highly recommend you start using it. Be warned, there's a high risk you'll develop OCD with it though.

Oh my god, don't do this.

Restore it with a Windows 7 Ultimate Edition CD. Ask your friends for one....or figure out a way to get it. My laptop is an HP G60, it's like 4 years old and running better than most laptops out there that are a year or two old. It all comes down to what you do with it, I use mine primarily for MS Word, email, the internet...I clean it out every now and then.

Might have something to do with the pink ECSTuning sticker I slapped on it the other day though. Maybe try that.

You can try installing waterproof DC jacks to prevent the viruses from attacking any further.

Just reformat it. How many apps do you really need to reinstall? Thoroughly cleaning a PC is nearly impossible and not worth the effort. I like that guarantee that everything is 100% fresh.

I used to fix windows computers for my friends and family, after so many repairs I got fed up with it and told everyone to get a Mac and leave me alone...
