Exclamation failed emissions please help

Hi there friends... I took my car to get a emissions test here in chi and it's telling me the catalytic converter effieciency is not ready.. now i know there is a open recal for the DME programming control module that needs to be done due to this problem, but the problem is my car has aftermarket headers that were already installed and tuned when i purchased the car and is not showing signs of check engine, not sure why it wont pass?

what should i do?

the tune itself is setting the cats to not ready state(for offroad only). It will not show/throw a cat inefficiency code, but through a scanner/testing machine will show up as "not ready" which will result in failing emission.

time to either find a way around it(please do not discuss about illegal ways on a public forum)

or put back stock cats and stock tune.

no other way around it other then registering it in another state that do not require emission testing.

You have a couple of choices,
1. Install the factory headers and tune
2. Install a catted section 1 and stock tune
3. If your state has rollers, go that route this time.

Check in your regional section, there might be a local willing to assist you.
In order to finish FIRST, you MUST first FINISH !

The stock exhaust manifold in the US version of the M3 has 2 catalysts built into the "header. There are also 2 additional cats downstream from the manifold. Most aftermarket headers do not have cats built in, so the car is likely operating with half the cat capacity it is supposed to have.
