Tranny service at 182000 miles?

182,000 miles 2000 323i .... Good idea or bad? 1 says life time fill don't touch......others say do it....

Auto.... When putting in reverse, car makes a slight thump. So I baby it. Not sure if I should tranny filter, fluid change or not

Is there a reason why? Is the transmission slipping? Poor shifting? If so, you're already too late. If not, it's up to you as to whether you want to change it. I would.

Thump in reverse? Probably diff bushings. Mine does the same.

Depends on your transmission. There is a chart floating around the forums on how to determine which you have.

yeah I'm gonna do a fluid change soon, also my auto tranny has the reverse thump it is the combination of diff bushings and really worn tranny mounts on my car

Yea I already had my transmission mounts done in June. Going to get the diff bushings done very soon. I need to get ahold of the RTAB and diff bushing tools.

I'll check all bushings and mounts tomorrow. I work at Mercedes Benz so I have access to any tool I need if my box doesn't already have it in it lol. I'll keep you posted

Always always always ALWAYS change your transmission fluid using the correct fluid, parts, and procedures. See sig, second link. Read transmission info. Hit the back button, see sig again, do it all.
