boost control these days?
I have been working on turbos recently at work from a controller standpoint. I haven't been trolling the forced induction section here at all. So, I was wondering how turbo boost is being controlled these days. Is a wastegate still being used? The turbos I work with use a variable nozzle/vane to control boost. Is anyone doing the same here in the e46 world? Browsing the Subaru forums, I think some of those guys are working with VNT (variable nozzle turbo). I may consider a turbo in the future when I do a high mileage rebuild on my car.

They're not used as far as i know.
Problem is costs and limits(mostly TTL) of it(ironic as it's made to break the limits of AR) |

No Variable Vane turbos that I know about for BMW aftermarket. However, BMW Turbocharged Diesel Engines use Garrett Variable Geometry Turbochargers(VGT) also known as a Variable Vane Turbocharger. http://www.bmwforums[/img] ** SPAM LINK BLOCKED ** Report this post to the moderators [img]general-gu...-m57-m57n.html
