folding seats back up

so, i don't want to sound like an idiot, but I'll do it anyway.

Heres is my issue with my '01 330ci: my back seats fold down with not problem, however to fold the seats back up, i cannot make it lock! I know that the latch locks, because i managed to do it with my fingers, however once lifting the back seat up, then it does not lock.

could anyone be so kind to help me out here?

I haven't folded my seats in a while, but iirc it takes a slight amount of force to push it up so it latches.

yeah i tried, but even with me sitting on them, then don't lock...

Both sides? or just one? I know mine take a lot of effort. There's been a couple times I've come to sudden stops and the back seats came flying down because they weren't latched properly.

Try checking the function of the levers in the trunk and the latches that would hold the seats up. Do they seem to function properly?

yeah both sides. and that just happened to me yesterday actually, a bitch in a prius stopped short, i came to a sudden stop and both seats just came down....

the latches seem to function just fine. i worked with my fingers and they lock and all, only when i put the seat up that it doesnt....
