Electrical issue affecting headlights?

Hi guys, i'm new here but I own an e46 318i.
Last night I was driving on the motorway when my drivers side headlight bulb blew, which was wierd cos I'd only replaced it a few months ago. Then on my way home, the Left side bulb blew aswell. (Managed to drive home safely with my high-beams set on minimum elevation).

This is really strange because these bulbs were replaced months apart from each other, I'm wondering if there is a short circuit somewhere?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Did you use some of those bulbs that are supposed to be brighter or whiter? They don't last long.
Did you touch the glass of the bulbs at any time? Doing so will cause them to fail.
