Talking Official Mountain + Canyon Driving Thread!

We don't have an official thread for discussing mountain/canyon runs, so let's see if this idea takes off! Share photos, videos, stories, and experiences from your favorite back roads, or discuss how certain mods impressed you during spirited driving.

Let's make it clear that we are not street racers and keep this thread free of street racing content. We are talking about enjoying one's car on a Sunday morning on an open road, alert, minding other road users and driving with caution. This isn't Fast and Furious.

I'll start off. Imo, the best driving roads local to the SF Bay Area are:

(To the East)
-Felter/Calaveras
-Hwy 130
-San Antonio Valley Drive (Personal Favourite)
-Del Puerto Canyon Drive
-Mine's Road

(To the West)
-Hwy 1
-Hwy 9
-Hwy 84
-Pescadero Drive

I'll put up a video or two when I can. Also, I'll be moving to Davis soon, so I'd love to hear what roads are nice up there.

Who else loves Canyon/Mountain runs?

Here are some photos from some trips over the past year:

I don't do it that much anymore. I've been running them for about 10 years now. I've seen lots of people go down, lots of bloody airbags, etc. I'll reserve this spot to post some pictures of my earlier days and past cars (including my first E46 from 2006)

Some old old pics. 2004-2006... i have some from 2002 somewhere.

All of them have access from 580.
Palomares is off Niles canyon so it's not far from Calaveras.
Redwood is in Castro Valley.
Morgan Territory is in Livermore.

Another great road is La Honda.

Uh why is there this misconception that I'm about OEM? I've never said such a thing. Half of the parts on my car are Meyle or some other aftermarket brand. The only thing I say to keep OE/OEM is the cooling system. Besides, even if it were true, this was 10 years ago.

A little bit of a joke. I feel like OE/OEM is a common idea on this forum, and your name just comes up a lot. Anyways, I'm sure you had a blast with that car as I did with mine.

Azusa canyon and Glendora Mountain Road are nice. Unfortunately too many Paul Walker and Vin Diesels go up there. Stupid kids are always double laning around blind corners. I only took the M3 once up there and that was to bone some chick. (waiting for "pics of chick" comments). Turnbull is close to me but its way too short. Lot of nice turns up there. Oh and apparently it's haunted. Angeles Crest is nice to cruise as well. Lots of rangers up there so it's not a very smart idea to speed.
