Clip Clip Clop Clop Ticking Noise *Video*

Hello, does anyone have any idea on what could be causing this strange noise in my engine? It sounds like a mix between a horse galloping and a blinker.

Disa valve rattles, so I hear...but haven't heard it 'live.' Check that.

Look at motor mounts...if you see the top of one of them, usually driver's side goes first I think, you might see fluid filling the top circle of it. That might be causing rocking that's translating to a clopping somewhere...if you have an auto trans, the fan can lightly hit the shroud as the engine rocks a bit. I don't 'think' it's that, but it's easy enough to look for.

Use a hose as stethoscope...or a stethoscope as stethoscope...and isolate the sound. Be careful around moving parts!

it could be because you used cheap gas. if not then it can be bad spark plugs or that you have deposits on the cylinder walls. time for a tune up

I think that a DISA rattle would be localized at the DISA, this sound seems to be coming from everywhere.

Also, I have removed the disa/ICV/throttle body before and tested function.

Only 90+ octane gas. Replaced the spark plugs a couple of months ago.

...and spark plugs 'have' been known to come loose, having not been tightened enough...nothing personal!

I know the NGKs say down to 'stop' and 1/16th turn...then another 1/2-2/3rds turn.

I can never tell with vids of sound and think on the spot isolation of the sound is best. Try using a garden hose or something like that.

I replaced spark plugs with "OEM" NGK (they had 4 prongs).

Time to murder a hose..... or maybe invest in a stethoscope.....

Re-seating spark plugs is also a good idea. (Hoping for some PFM)

I have the same noise.. Ive put a new disa in, new plugs and recently checked to make sure they were seated correctly. Noise wont go away. Things ive done to try and get rid of the noise/random rough idle.
Disa
CCV
Spark Plugs
Vanos (valve cover too)
Pulleys
Cooling system overhaul
Belts
Ignition coils
Cleaned TB/ICV
intake boots
Camshaft sensors (intake and exhaust)

If i just knew what the damn problem was i could fix it..

OP,
Partial VANOS and DISA.
It's distinctly VANOS that's making that random hard tick at :03, :09, :14.

DISA is making that droning sound.

Not sure what's making that galloping noise.
