Help!! Motor Mounts

So i am in the middle of replacing my motor mounts with oe ones. take the passenger side one off first put the replacement in and slowly lower the motor, i get back under to tighten the bolts and there is a lot of fluid leaking from the new motor mount, enough to constantly drip for a minute or two. Is this something that is normal? i cannot see exactly where the fluid is coming from. I dont want to put the car back together just to know that i had a defective one and need a new mount.

No it should not do that.
I would put the previous mount back in. You don't want the place you bought it from saying it was previously installed and used and that's why it went.

Although if genuine BMW it should have BMWs warranty.

Good news. I contacted the vendor and they will be sending me another along with a shipping label to return the first one.

actually if you're replacing both mounts, before tightening the bad mount down replace it with the 2nd new mount. then send back that first new mount for replacement. don't even get to the drivers side. do that when you get your replacement. this serves three purposes: you will find out if the 2nd new mount is also defective now. and you don't have to go mess with drivers side mount which could be destroyed removing. also don't have to start the driver side removal and replace today.

Also OP make sure you use brand new Genuine BMW nuts. they have lock washer inserts in them and ensure the nuts are secure. if you re-use, use blue loctite (or equivalent)
