Salmon Relay
Hi Guys,
I wanted to ask if anyone who knows if this SMG RELAY is referred to as the "Salmon Relay"? also I keep hearing this from this site. SMG pump relay. My car drives perfectly now and the only problem is the Light is on for the Transmission in the right corner of my gauge cluster. its the cirecle thing that kinda looks like a gear. its yellowish. I have no idea where the Salmon relay is, or the SMG Pump relay. Does anyone know which i need to change since my car still rive perfectly since my light is on? Please help Robert

The 'salmon relay' is under the hood in the fuse box on the driver's side of the car close to the firewall. Make sure you have a torx driver as well ( T25 I think? ). The part # at one time was 12.63.1.742.690 (I'm not sure if BMW has superseded the #).. Salmon relay is the SMG relay.

Why don't you have someone read the codes to see why the light came on?

Just a thought OP - what is the ambient temperature when the light comes on? Does the light stay on constantly? I have heard that the cog/gear with exclamation point in the center can be illuminated if the transmission temperature passes a set parameter.
