turn off reverse light indicator???

Hi bimmer lovers, I hope someone can help me. The wires for the reverse light in my bmw are burned so the reverse lights are not working....but i dont care. I just want to take off the stupid light in my dash that is always open. I have an OBDII scanner which is an elm 327 but the program on my computer sucks. Someone knows how I could take this light off? Or a good free program for my scanner? Thanks a lot.

Its the same as in the picture but in my dash the 2 rear light are there.

I also have a bad wire that blows the fuse for my reverse lights. I have never had a dash display for that. I got the dash display when the grounds in my taillights failed. That was repaired by the dealer under the recall.

Rather than go through all that trouble, why not just fix your broken wires. They're in the elephant trunk going to the trunk lid.

See my posts on elephant trunk...and you'll see it's an easy repair, and undoubtedly it's a broken wire in that loom.

It won't be visible from the outside...the wires broke inside the insulation from metal fatigue. They're broken right at the bend in that loom.

98.4% I'm right.

Reverse Light INDICATOR? What's that?

The picture you posted does not indicate a reverse light, it says the left tail lamp assembly is not working.

Unplug the tail lamp housing and look inside of the connector, both on the housing side and on the wire harness side, and notice the burnt pin(s).

JD, that wasn't a picture of his car's cluster...but in any case, you will get a light out indicator if your reverse lights are out. I had the issue, had the warning lights, and fixed it by fixing the broken wire(s). (Inline splice, solder, shrink tubing)
