HTC One X+ Ships this month.

I like the deep blacks and contrast of an Amoled, but I agree, that big gorgeous SLCD on the One X is probably the best screen out yet. At least until amoleds can stop using pentile and start using standard RGB again (like the galaxy S2)

Only on AT&T and T-Mobile correct? According to reports a while back, the U.S. version will not have a quad core but dual core.

Battery is too small for LTE and a Quadcore. I have a 2100mah in my Galaxy nexus and a slightly larger battery wouldn't hurt, but with a quad core and that huge screen I imagine battery life will be ****.

Anyways, it's a new phone that's just been announced in Japan, which means smartphones here will follow soon enough. The back story: Recently, Sharp (maker of iphone 5 screen) showed off some new screens it had made, 5 inch, 1920x1080 resolution. I wondered when they would make their way into smartphones, and the J Butterfly has answered that.

Looks like PC level hardware hasn't finished scaling down to smartphone sizes just yet . Granted, 5" is pretty large, but to get FULL HD resolution? Damn... This screen blows everything currently available out of the water. Just when I thought 720p would become the standard... Phone screens are following the footsteps of TV lol. Dual standards of 720/1080.

I don't mean to rain on the One X+, just sharing some news lol. HTC is going balls to the walls to try to turn sales around, and I like it.

HTC has unveiled its new high-end HTC J Butterfly smartphone aimed at the Japanese market.

The Taiwanese phone maker announced today the arrival of the new handset, which features a 5-inch, 1080p display.

The HTC J Butterfly -- available in red, white, or black -- boasts a 440ppi HD "Super LCD 3" panel, an 8-megapixel rear camera that can cope with 1080p video, 16GB of storage, and 2GB of RAM. The phone operates through Qualcomm's 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon APQ8064 chip and comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Beats Audio installed.

Within its 140g, 9.1mm waterproof package, there is more to tempt the HTC enthusiast. The HTC J Butterfly is equipped for global use -- through NFC, LTE, and CDMA/GSM/UMTS/GPRS radios. In addition, the handset has a microSDHC expansion, Bluetooth 4.0, and 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi.

HTC has not revealed its price but based on specifications alone, it is likely to be aimed at the higher-end consumer market. If it never makes it out of Japan, there may be many disappointed customers -- as it could prove a rival for the firm's flagship HTC One X+ handset.

I'm not sure when the One X+ is due out, haven't seen any news on that front in awhile. The Google announcement on the 29th should give some insight into how good the LG Nexus 4 will be though. Also, if the 300ppi screen rumors are true about the Nexus 10, then it will be a serious ipad competitor. I will definitely be watching the live stream for this.

What I have heard just today is that there has been a verizon branded HTC DLX spied in the wild. This will be the U.S. equivalent of the 1080p, quad core, LTE sporting J Butterfly that was announced in Japan. Not sure about other carriers yet, but if this is Verizon's competition for the Galaxy Note 2, then they are going to completely smash it Imo.

I am a fan of HTC but 5" screen is a bit much for a phone no? Specs are impression but I don't know if I want a mini tablet. I have a good friend who use his Samsung note as a phone and he said he loves it.

Combine this with a 10 year patent cross-licensing agreement with Apple and things are looking up for HTC This Droid DNA looks like a Galaxy Note 2 killer with its 1080p screen.

The screen is a definite winner over the Note2 but with a 2020 mAh battery, that thing will be tied to a charger. The battery is also non removable.

The S3 is $150 almost everywhere now and Best Buy has it for $99 occasionally. I got mine for $99 a few weeks ago and BB had it for that price about a week ago.

Why would anyone buy the one x+?? Droid DNA is gonna make a killing.

These high end phones are coming out left and right every week. Some other company will have that 1080p screen.
