Question Front strut mount collar nut 31316769731

I'm in the process of replacing strut, shocks and all associated hardware with new parts. I got this part number from RealOEM but for some reason it was very hard to find. Many mainstream vendors I visited list nearly every other piece of installation hardware except for this nut. It is a self-locking nut so I figured I would need new ones when installing new strut mounts.

I ended up ordering 6 from getbmwparts. They didn't show it on the part diagrams for my car. I had to do a part number search, and even then it told me it wasn't applicable to my year and model

I guess the bottom line is, I'm worried/curious why this part was so hard to find. Did I even get the right part?

Well, the part shipped today. I guess I'll wait to see if they thread properly onto the new strut tower bearings I have.

You'll need those for sure unless you have some strut bar that came with it's own nuts (e.g. factory M3 strut bars). Be aware that those are one time use nuts, hence "self-locking."

Yep. That's why I was surprised they were so hard to find. In the past I've had good luck finding other one time use hardware on many websites.
