Anybody here from Knoxville, TN or have passed through?

Will be in Knoxville for 4 days next week for a SPC refresher seminar and would like to find things to do in the evenings and places to eat. Recommendations? Thanks

I live in Knoxville. There's a pizza place outside of Knox you have to try that is famous. There's a soul food joint called Chandlers. There's a quarry called Fort Dickerson's Quarry that Patagonia featured this year.

If you're looking for evening plans, I can point you to the best bars also.

Thanks. It will be myself and a colleague there. Will have to PM you when I get down that way. Was hoping a fanatic or 2 was in the area. Are you 21 yet?

Statistical process control. I did a lot of in school, but our engineering manager sends all the new hires to these types of seminars for refreshing.

Where did you end up getting a job at? I know you were talking about moving to the DC area a while ago?

Dragon is pretty good at this time in the year, but it explodes in late October. I used to live in Knoxville, but back in the Nashville area now and was thinking about heading back there this coming weekend actually.

Hit Collin up, he's an awesome guy and knows how to have some fun. What days will you be there?

Definitely hit the dragon. If renting a car, rent something fun. It is the best thing in/near Knoxville by a longshot. Stop by Deals Gap and have a Dragon Burger. Watch the cars and bikes tear it up.

The dragon is an hour and a half away. There are also a lot of roads in knoxville just as twisty, but not as long. I was still drunk this morning when I posted so I didn't get to go into detail. The Tennessee Theatre is a very old historical place downtown that's a must visit. The bar scene is pretty damn good, mixed with college bars on the strip, and the Old City with more of a professional atmosphere for a little older crowd. Food just depends on what you like, but Chandler's and Wright's Cafe are the best soul food joints. Big Ed's is a famous pizza place that won best in the state, and top 100 nationwide that's awesome. Very old and the atmosphere is what makes it. People like Vice Presidents, and Paul Bear Bryant have been there and autographed stuff.

Great I'm 22, don't have to worry about some old creeper fanatic. And will do, just landed about 30 mins ago and arrived at the hotel. Staying at the Crowne Plaza. I'm here until Thurs evening. Flight out is around 7pm.

Printpack Inc. as a product development engineer. Eventually I want to get to the DC area, but the cost of living is less in Williamsburg and I make a similar salary even down this way. Are you still in the area? I haven't seen you in awhile.

We got a Mazda 3 for a rental. I've never driven one so I can comment unless others have opinions of whether this car is a yay or nay.

And I'll be bringing the M3 to the dragon in 2 weeks with a group of M buddies. I'll be sure to utilize the road then. Apparently my friend planned the timing just right by looking at the seasonal chart for the local trees and determining when the colors will be at their peak.

Another fairly young fanatic here. I'm sure Collin will point you in the right direction, but since you're staying downtown, be sure to hit up Downtown Grill and Brew one night. It's within walking distance, good food, and good local brew. Nama by the movie theater also has good sushi if you're into that. Anyways, if ya have any other questions just shoot one of us a PM!

A mazda3 is a definite yay. They're peppy and handle nicely too. My friend has one and I've driven the hell out of it multiple times. It's shockingly fun for what it is. DO IT!

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Collin, I'm near Market Square and Downtown Knoxville...about a 10-15 minute walk from you. You better make it out one day this week. It's still early in the semester. :p

Ate a santa fe burger and had the blonde ale and a jack/coke tonight at downtown brew and grille. Joe was our bartender and was extremely easy to talk with. Good food and beer. Driving around campus now.
