dealing with international buyers on ebay....?

I am new to ebay and I forgot to exclude international buyers from one of my listings. Well a guy from the UK won a listing for over $400 this morning. He messaged me asking where to paypal the money. His account was created yesterday and has zero feedback. How to prevent myself from being scammed?

You should wait until the money clears, however it takes more than a day. PayPal even tells you the money is in there but they hold it for like 15-20 days or something but they tell you that you can expedite that process by showing proof of shipment.

I've been in that same situation with new account and zero feedback but still decided to ship my item(no tracking #) and get the money as soon as I can. Needless to say, I lost out on my item and 100$. F*cker called the bank and reversed it and PayPal approved it....

Its bs. Usually international buyers, especially with 0 feedback are bs.

When shipping insure the item and have a signature required by the recipient. Yes it may be a hassle for them, but it helps protect you. I sold two items on Ebay about a year ago and each individual claimed they didn't get the product and opened a dispute with Paypal. I scanned my tracking slips and took screen shots of delivery conformation and that signature was required...both individuals gave up on the disputes. Honestly it was a bit of a hassle given the false claims and has turned me off from selling on Ebay, however I didn't loose any money so it is what it is.

wait a couple days, Mail Using Priority Mail with signature confirmation and insurance. if you don;t feel comfortable don't sell it to him, and perhaps send a second chance request.

You are screwed.

If you are really worried about it, tell him the item is damaged and you will send him $20 for his trouble to prevent negative feedback.

Don't even need to do that
You can mark the shipping option as "within the us only" or something like that when creating the auction ... but this does not make international members unable to bid on your auction
Which does have a legitimate reason .. someone with an international account may be in the us or have an address in the us to receive the item
But unfortunately most of the time it is a scam

Anyway
If it seems fishy, don't sell to this guy
Say I only ship within the us, should have read the auction terms more carefully, now gtfo
(This is assuming you made your auction properly)

Read the OP. He didn't set it up right, which is why he's asking.

He FORGOT to create the auction terms properly.

He will get a negative. At least I would give him one if I was the bidder.
