Help with my M3

I bought a 2003 M3 manual a year ago. I haven't had any problem until yesterday when I turned it on to drive it and the car started shaking as soon as the (service engine soon) popped up . When I accelerate the car does not respond as its suppose to. I have to accelerate more than the usual. The shaking does not go away.

Get codes read. It's probably misfiring. Check which cylinder.

Sounds like your cylinders are misfiring. Could be coils or plugs.

Pray when you scan it you don't get the code p00013 or something like that. The code I'm talking about would translate into camshaft time actuator over retarded or something along the lines of that. Basically a new exhaust hub or oil pump in your vanos. Sometimes both. I really hope it's something simple like your coils or spark plugs but I'm afraid you may be looking at a new vanos. But good luck. Also your timing could be thrown off which would give you the same problem so take a look at that too

Most likely ignition coils, as many have stated. Cheapest place online for replacement coils I've found was http://www.rockauto.com

Bosch ignition coil, part number 00124, $25.79

Amazon.com also sells them for $30 with free shipping.

Hopefully it's just a coil, those are cheap and easy. Grab a Peake Reader (LINK) or another BMW specific code reader and figure out what the codes are.

Yep get the bosch coils and replace all 6. If thats the prob of course. I got mine online for $34 each instead of $88 at dealer. Anyone know where to get replacement factoryish looking speedo cluster that goes 200 mph or more?

Thank you guys, I went to a mechanic and it was the coils. So I'll just buy them online and he going to replace them for 60$.

For sure do it yourself. Unless u are scared of breaking the coil connectors and the shop is going to fix anything they wreck. But wait... Of course they wont tell u about it if they did but you'll figure it out about 100 miles from home
