Call me when that's the case. As it stands, he'll be losing money for the next few years. Does he plan to drive it in the winter as well?

Thanks for the detailed explanation refuting my facts.

FWIW, I DD a vehicle that gets 13mpg, so having a 50mpg car would be a great idea. 100mpg scooter would be better, but no thanks.

We're not talking about you or your car, and maybe you missed the response I typed up before talking about cost of ownership.

i DD a 100mpg scooter. i paid $400 for it, fixed it up and its paid for itself several times over. id love a ruckus... theyre like in a class of their own way radder than any other scooter.

scooters have real benefits. #1 being they keep short city trips off your e46 and save you a ton of money.

ruckuses are seriously beautiful..

I do not see a post from you detailing the cost of ownership, aside from the one I replied to.

You called me an idiot for wanting a fuel-efficient car, I replied.

Nobody can say if its right or wrong for the OP to want a scooter, we can simply lay out the facts as we know them to be.

If his only reason for getting it was to keep miles off his main car, then many would consider that worth it and saving gas as an extra benefit.

Rucks are awsome. The only thing you will regret when buying one is not buying one sooner. Here's photos of mine.

115 mpg (regular 87)
ruckus motors known to last 60k miles
new motor $100
you can park wherever the hell you want. even on sidewalks.

So can you enlighten us to how much you've invested into your Ruckus?

hmmm invest isent really the right word for modding a scooter or car for that matter lol. I bought it with 500 miles stock for $1200. All the mods and work put into the Ruckus is probably another $2000 on top. I do have big plans for the Ruckus though with a front disk brake setup/ new wheels/ lcd speedometer/ and a new paint job. Total cost of everything when its done will probably be around $5000 or more. Thats just me though, I go to a lot of car shows. Usually I take my car but the Ruckus is way more fun.

front disk brake setup im going with

what I usually drive

mopeds=mopussy.

a few mods and a gy6 motor swap and they can be very enlightening to ride and still get retarded mileage, but you can easily sink money into em. If you want one, buy one for fun, not because you are trying to save money.

exactly. I have a CR-V, Civic, M3, and my Ruckus. Its just for fun. I dont ride it every day because my work commute is 35 miles there and 35 miles back mon-fri. But when im off work everything is in a 10 mile radius of me so I use the Ruckus if the weather is nice. I suggest you get one if you live in the city or if you have a short commute. or if you wanna pick up hot chicks.

One my friends who is a welder stretched and slammed one that he found in a junkyard. After buying a motor he only has about $500 in it and its so much fun and gets some crazy looks.

I think mopeds are lame but a properly modded ruckus is pretty sexy. Still prefer 250s tho.
