Peeps are so whack hating on Dom G just fr being a typical knuckle headed lad, they needs to chill and stop thinking they're upscale in a decade old euro commuter sedan, much like our beloved and to us over-valued e46 rides the Ruckus is a great invention and such a timeless hit, for a long time the Ducati Monster was the official ride of San Franciscans (everyone on ma deek in 97 fo my silver m750 the originale) but now it's the Rucker Park Special that rules the roost. So what if its slow so what if its kind if utilitarian, that's the whole idea like a junk yard bike from the Road Warrior or Robocop. If I didn't live I suburban hell and commute 50 miles round trip id be in and get so funky on that shiz you go Dommy Boy, f the haterz.

And FTR the ride of choice in the 80s was not some whack Puch moped but the Honda Spree, mine was black and purple and yes it was a (fingerbanging) pussy magnet. Plus what else could you hide under your front porch when the cops chased you home for being a straight up hooligan barn storming schoolyards and bombing down the train tracks latenight commando with no headlight?

Everyone should be required to ride a scooter for a few years before driving a car. Not only is it a blast but it gives you seat of the pants awareness and instincts that years behind the safe-t-glass silent desensitized windshield of a Toyota nermoscruiser will give them. And gas? Oh yeah I have to put some in this thing once in a while I forget, oh well walk it to the next station or throw it in your buddies back seat and take it up there.

Have fun enjoy and catch the bug so you eventually end up buying a bike too!

My wife has 2012 Ruckus stock. We had the restriction plate in the exhaust removed from the dealer when we bought it. It will do about 40-45 now. Gets 97mpg and fills up for about $3 a tank. She loves it and commutes to work on it. They are fun for what they are and if you can take side streets and no interstate to work/school then it would not be a bad option.

Just for laughs I went to the Honda Powersports website to look at the Ruckus. They had a "Configure Your Ruckus" option so I clicked on it to see what options were available.

The only option is whether to get it in 1) black or 2) red/white. That's it. Neither color changes the prices. It made me laugh.

Still: it's a pretty cool little runabout if you live in the right place.

I'm going to get a scooter this summer when I move to our new facility that's ~1 mile from my house. How fast can these guys go? I need one that goes at least 40mph since that's the highest speed limit that I'll encounter...

If they don't go 40 out of the box, how hard is it to make them go 40?

If you have them remove the limiter in the exhaust (dealership will do for free if you buy it new) they will do 40-45 depending on your weight.
