What tablet do you have?

Hey guys,
What tablet do you the Fanatics own, and how do you like them? My parents need a tablet for work, and I was looking on VZW's website to see what they got.

Used iPad's are $430 (and not even LTE!) . But then I looked, fack, all tablets are ridiculously priced .

I've been doing research to compare speeds, capabilities, and battery life.

But, there's nothing like hearing it from the horse's mouth. At least I think that's how the saying goes. So I figured I'd just ask your opinions!

Had a Xoom since release, got it upgraded to 4g, but never used it. I tether it to my 4g droid or use wifi at home.

Stock official ROM and it still works great for all my needs of light web browsing, games, and some magazines off the play store.

They're rather cheap now too i believe.

*edit* by stock rom, I mean latest OTA update version. Not the original one!

I picked up the 16 gig Asus transformer TF-101. I can add up to 16 gigs of memory with a micro SD card. It cost me $225. I picked the batterypack/keyboard add on that doubled the battery life to 18 hours and another 64 gigs of memory. Basically I have a table that last twice as long as a IPAD, 144 gigs of memory for less than the cost of an IPAD

Thanks for the input guys.

Unfortunately, the one I get has to have cellular. My genius step-dad just bought a "basic phone" and can't hotspot it up. He'll be the primary user while "on the road."

I wouldnt rule out getting a mifi device or similiar, a little more flexibility that would work with any wifi-enabled device, and I believe the plans are the same prices.

My phone is also a hot spot, so I just turn the wifi on my tablet and use my phones hot spot. Its way cheaper hardware and service wise. T mobile doe not charge me a fee for hotspot service

I have an iphone 5 hot spot

Asus transformer tf 101.

Slightly dated, but runs latest ics and works great.

Use it to surf the web and read news articles.

I don't have one, but I bought my gf a Nexus 7 and she loves it. Got her a BT keyboard and mouse as well, so she uses Google drive etc. to mimic the function of a small laptop. Its a pretty nice setup. It is WiFi only though.

For only $200 it can't be beat.

I have the New iPad, aka iPad3 with AT&T LTE and a Nexus 7 16GB. The Nexus 7 is alright, it's probably one of the best Android tablets, but, I prefer the iPad. Apps seem to work better on the iPad. The processor and GPU's are better on the iPad 3 and it gives a very smooth and slick user experience. The Nexus 7 has 4.1 with project butter to make things smoother and faster, but, it's still trailing the iPad. I have more problems with apps crashing on the Nexus 7, more problems with inconsistencies with how the OS works. Google seems to like changing things. I had a Android phone before with 2.1. I got used to it and it worked ok for a while then it because sluggish and I moved to an iPhone 4. So anyway I know how Android 2.1 works, but, when I went to 4.1 things were different and I had to relearn and actually go through some of the Nexus 7 ebook that it came with. With Apple I can switch between using my iPad, iPhone 4 and my wife's iPhone 3 without any problem. With the nexus7/android I find myself confused and wondering when I am. For Nexus 7 ergonomics I don't like that the sleep wake button is on the side. I find myself feeling all around the device for the button and end up pressing the volume button a few times trying to turn it on. It make me appreciate the home button on the front. The Nexus 7 battery life isn't very good in standby. It's near dead after 2 days of standby. I have it set to periodically check email which the iPad does as well, but, the iPad can run for many days and still have most of it's battery left.

iPad 3. Don't know how much memory. Interface is good for what you're most likely going to use it for (i.e. not work-related stuff). Good interface, woos girls. Money well spent, since it wasn't my money.
