I literally just had this happen yesterday. Bought two items and they showed up on Monday in one box. Then yesterday the exact same items showed up again.

I think it would fall under the rules covering unsolicited merchandise:

Hm. Interesting--the statute is for the Postal Service. Do you have a source I can look at? The FTC website doesn't differentiate. It just says if merchandise is "sent" to you you can keep it.

That's the thing, I don't think a duplicate order would fall under the category of unsolicited merchandise considering it's related to my original order.

Same exact law is cited in Ontario.

In business school we had to take an ethics class that covered this kind of stuff.

For example: let's say you're running a dry cleaning operation with a partner. A customer comes in and pays with a $100 bill. After she leaves, you realize that she accidentally gave you TWO $100 bills. Ethics question: do you tell your partner?

Kind of... when I ordered my rims years back. I got charged for the set, but they sent me 3 sets (12 rims). Told them and had the two sent back

Of course you tell him she overpaid...

You take that $100 bill, break it in the till, and tell him she accidentally gave you an extra $50. Give him $25. All is happy.
