Exclamation ATI Damper FAIL!

At least the critical part did not fail but the a/c pulley bolts backed out and then totalled screwed up the holes and the threads. Yes, the pulley was torqued properly.

What happened was my car has been throwing the drive belts....long story...at the track. Part of the reason may be from the hydraulic tensioner. AA specifies mechanical tensioners for all of their superchargers. I also think the AA spec'd belt is a tad too long. I don't have the OEM damper anymore so I can't compare and see if the ATI damper is smaller in diameter.

I was at the track, the belt came off during a session. Instead of running the risking that I tear up the a/c belt again I left the a/c belt off and just replaced the drive belt. Went back out for 5 more sessions.

I am about to go back home. So I get under the car to put the a/c belt back on (zionsville radiator makes it a PIA to do it from the top). I drop the front plastic shield and the a/c pulley was sitting at the bottom of the plastic shield..totally off of the damper.

Calling ATI this week.

A little blue loctite would probably fix that right up.

Why are you running the AC belt at the track?

As you can imagine the screw holes are really messed up.

So yeah, installer error. I did not do the last install of that damper...I loctited the bolts.
