oil level sensor question

greetings guys! So my oil lever sensor has not worked for ages..amber at start up, then goes off...anyway, I am due for an oil service...but I can not afford a new sensor --- so, there are some E36's at the local pick-a-parts, are they the same? It appears so, but wanted to be sure. Also, I did some checking -- can you get just the gasket or is it made to the sensor?

thanks guys! And PS, please save the smart ass remarks about being able to afford what you drive, I got laid off 6 weeks ago, so...it is what it is.

thanks!

Geoff

If you buy the sensor make sure the brand is HELLA. That is the only brand for it. Cost is around $90.
