s85 into an e46 m3
well, an s85 powered e46 has been my dream car since I saw those gtrs take the prize in every race they ran. I know it's not an easy swap but I figure that there's a lot of knowledgeable guys out there as there has been a lot of these swaps done by now.
At the moment I'm looking for a reputable and honest shop to do the work that charges a reasonable amount for their job as I've seen shops charge it's clients like they are basketball stars or arab billionaires which obviously I am not. a couple of questions: 1) do you know if I can keep my stock dash or do I have to go with something like cosworth? I'd like to keep it as stock looking as possible. 2) what I am looking to buy? m5 with man trans, radiator, manifold, headers, sump? that said, any advice would be greatly appreciated so I can start working on getting the parts and talking to the shop to get estimates. |

I don't know of anyone on this forum that has done this swap. I think this swap would be an absolute TON of custom work. You are re-doing basically everything under the hood, the entire driveline and probably parts of the dash. For the price of doing it, you could probably just buy an E60 M5. If the uniqueness is worth it to you, then good luck!

believe me, for me it is worth it. I really rather have this car than an e60 m5, furthermore I rather have this car than a gt3 and that's saying a lot. the difficult part would be to keep weight balance and not ruin me in the process. a standalone ecu looks like the safest bet but I don't want to lose my oem dash so any advice in this matter would be great.
