VW Touareg TDI vs Chevy Duramax (bumper pull)

I'm impressed by the amount of torque produced by the TDI

+1 Not to mention there's hardly any weight over the back tires

And this too.

Shouldn't the Duramax have been pulling from the front?

The Chevy will git more trim at Dairy Queen on a friday night
though.

I believe it even without the knobby tires and stupid lift. My family's GL Bluetec pulls past Silverados on the highway all the time.

Highway speed = horsepower

Bumper pull = torque

Of course your GL pulls on the highway silverados aren't meant to to fast lol... I'm not taking anything away from the vw, but get a properly equipped silverado with some weight over the rear end and in 4lo (only because the vw is awd) and it might be a different story.

Ps go race a silverado ss and see if you pull on it

Sorry I worded that horribly.

Its our Boat pulling vehicle and nearly everybody around our area has similar size boats. Our boat weighs about 8000 pounds with fuel and junk inside. I would assume the other boats on the highway weigh a similar amount. Once we get up near the lakes there are a series of hills and we are always the ones passing with ease while the silverados downshift and fall back.

Although to be fair, the GL probably cost twice the amount of a silverado so not really teh best comparison.

Ok lol that makes a lot more sense. I was sitting here thinking to myself who goes around racing silverados in a GL and brags about it

The large tires on the chevy don't help anything either. Smaller tires = more torque.

I'll still take the Chevy without the smoke stacks and lift to tow my boat. The VW towing capacity can't be much more than 7500lbs.

I am sorry but even a 5.3 gas Silverado would probably dominate your GL. Comparing your GL to a Duramax Silverado is a joke. The 350 Blutec motor is a 3.0l has 210hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. A new 6.6l Duramax has 397hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.

I think the tires didn't help much since they were on pavement. If they did that contest on dirt or mud, might be a very different outcome.

What variant of 747 has the engines mounted side by side?
