I would start changing your bulbs out? Checking for burned projector bowls? There's no way you would get a benefit going from OE Xenon to aftermarket halogen.

Bad move. Can you take a pic of your lighting at night?

What color are the bulbs emitting? Are they leveled properly? Do you have AL or ZKW lights?

the lights are factory 4300k phillips d2s 35w. i just changed them to a aftermarket 6000k d2s 35w bulb but could not tell any difference so i put the original bulbs back in. the lighting is very dim on the car,is there any way to check the ballast?

You have the ZKW headlights and your reflector bowls are burnt out, so they are not reflecting light forward through the lens and you are getting very poor output. It has nothing to do with your ballasts or bulbs.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can retrofit some AL projectors in there and it will be much, much better. It requires a pair of AL projectors (~$100/pr on ebay), a pair of bixenon solenoid control circuits ($16/pr from here), disassembly, cutting up and drilling of your housings. Here is a how-to: http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showt...r-Retrofit-DIY
