Question Legal or Illegal

Is it legal to have your orange reflectors painted? I really want to paint mine to match my topaz, but i was just wondering on the legality of it. Thanks

i dont know if it depends on the state but in CA its illegal not to have amber reflectors on the front of a car. a cop walked right up to my car and noticed it missing (it was dark and not the painted reflectors that gave it away btw). luckily the cop was my brother in law .

its one of those things that is worth the risk of a fix it ticket IMHO. the officer would haver to really be looking to give a ticket out to bother with it

I think your better off with the color matched ones than the clear ones. I really wouldn't worry about it. I have the clear one BTW

It's illegal in most states actually. however.. you won't usually get pulled or ticketed because of that. I don't think cops even though it's a law. They are picky about Clear Turn bulbs or illegal reverse lights. But I guess it's dependent in your area.

reason why euro doesnt have the orange reflectors is because it is not require by DOT over there, but it really depends over here on which state you live in. Most likely it is not illegal, but you cant drive without the reflectors in. I was in for an inspection and it passed because i had mine painted, so just make sure you have an extra set of ambers whenever you go for inspection//service.
