E46 320d 2004 boot light

My Beemers bootlight in the lights warning diagram on the dashboard won;t go off. When I lift the boot lid, both interior lights are OK. Sop it must be the switch ? But I can't find the switrch mechanism ? Suspect it is part of the bootlock, but don't want to take it all apart without knowing if this is so ? Anybody had the same problem. Thanks. Huge

Hi. Check the wiring loom in the boot as sometimes the wires fray. Jim

Check the rubber hose that holds the wires between the bootlid and car body. The wires break from constantly folding, and can cause the car's computer to think the lid is open even when firmly shut.

edit - beat to it!
