I know one thing. There is no way in the world taxes are only $157K. lol.

I have clients that pay more than that in property taxes on homes no where near $74MM.

$74MM is insane for 27,000 sq ft. INSANE. Will never happen.

http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/30...46846828_zpid/

Sold for $3.8MM and its 2 lots away on the same water and 5700 sqft.

It's VERY depenedant on what state you live in. Homes in TX are cheap as hell and nice, same here in parts of Georgia.

Personally, I think Raleigh is one of the best places in the country for an affordable high end suburb lifestyle.

Not sure how you construed "not quite as nice as cupertino" into "undesirable dump".

Those $1M homes I posted in Fremont would only cost $400K-$500K in my neighborhood.

Parents have a 5000sq ft house on 10 acres dad built when Sis and I lived at home.

Now its just them them and its way way to big.

I like the 3500sq ft sized houses personally...thats plenty of space

Wouldn't you both agree that Cupertino and Fremont both pale in comparison to maybe Atherton or Saratoga/Los Gatos for example?

Real estate prices are a strange thing to follow. It's sort of tough to pull anything truly meaningful from them when you compare them to inflation and other economic indicators. The home I live in now that I've been in since 1999 was valued over 2 million around 04-05 (before Prices really got out of control and the rest of the nation peaked). Since then, the price estimate has followed the ebbs and flows of the market, but it still comes in at just over 1.1 million. I don't live in a gated community, and the homes are pretty close together, but I do have a 3 car garage, parking on the side of the house, an epic view, a full room lanai and over 4,000 sq. feet along with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. I love it here, but it can't really hold a candle to some of the other homes posted in this thread. Even the other one I posted for a comparable price blows it away.
