Thinking of getting rid of the BMW for an Infiniti FX35 or FX45
Hey everyone,
So I love my baby, no car payments, she runs great but I recently commissioned into the Air Force and am making considerably more money then I was as a broke college kid. I have poured blood sweat and tears into my car, but the bottom line is that its a 1999 and it feel old to me. I was looking at 2003ish FX35s or 45s. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which road I should take? I have 144000 on the bimmer and was planning on driving it into the ground. This is kind of a dumb thread but I'm torn so I'd figure Id throw it out to you guys. Thanks

keep the bimmer until you're making more than lieutenant pay.
I know, I know, it feels like more money than god right now. But just hold off. Maybe wait until you score one of those arduous 90 day deployments

going from a 1999 to a 2003 isnt a great jump. and to the fx no less. id look into something much newer than that

Don't you guys get 1% loans? You can buy a pretty nice car for little down with a 1% loan.

Save at least half of what you make. Also put as much in 401k/retirement as possible. First 5 years make the biggest difference.
And if you really want a nice car, like me, get a weekend job (making money vs. spending money). Who knows, you might find yourself with no life driving an E90 M3  . Last edited by cposk; 10-18-2012 at 11:44 AM. |

I would wait until you make CPT, before you got the Infiniti. I had a 2005 G35 and it was an amazing car before it got totaled.

Get the FX my friend had one that SAV/SUV is just so different! and reliable! Always loved those things.

Keep the car that is paid off.
Do some engine mods to it. Cams, Headers etc if you want a little more power/update the car. I would suggest going FI but I wouldn't do that to a DD. Getting an FX35/45 is going be like going from driving a speed boat to a yacht. Yachts are awesome to be in but not fun to drive  Last edited by zander271; 10-18-2012 at 12:38 PM. |
