Exclamation should i buy 2004 330i ZHP?

The carfax showed me the car was totaled in March 2012 and has a rebuilt title. I test drove it and it looks and runs absolutely perfectly with a few dents. Cinnamon/Black leather interior with the seude boot and whatnot since its a ZHP. It has 94.5k miles on it. I don't know what got damaged in the accident. The seller is asking $7800, but carfax said i should ask for $1000 below asking price. Should i offer $6500? Is it a deal? I am new to this forum and this might be my first BMW so bear with me if i make a few mistakes!

Smallest pictures ever. Pass. Never buy a salvage title IMO.

Pics are not helping. Manual or auto? That is a great price for a ZHP even though it's rebuilt. Not liking the M3 bumper, but's still...

Now that I've seen the pictures, I'll say pass... This car has been posted a few days ago here.

The same car in Pennsylvania? WTF scammer?! its such a beautiful car though! my other option is an 02 325xi sedan.....75k miles with a perfectly clean carfax for $10k. thats the top of my budget so ill need some more time before i add rims and a body kit.

Things that I can tell:
Steering wheel has been changed to regular sport package/coupe wheel
Hood alignment is funky, probably a front end accident hence the m3 bumper and steering wheel.
missing cup holders in the center console?
rear bumper seems to have a lot of scratches.

if they're zkw headlights they're most likely burned.

Yeah the steering wheel is not the M3 wheel. cup holders are there, just out of sight. It is a replacement hood, the guy got into a front end accident with a big truck that messed up the hood but apparently nothing else was damaged. I just want to know if i should buy it. If something does mess up and i need to get rid of it, how much do you think i can get if i part it out?

If it's between a 325xi and that car I'd say wait or search further. Trains are great, inexpensive ways to get to a car outside of driving range.

If you're budget is roughly $7000 I'd look for a higher mileage 330, otherwise you will always be wanting the 3L.

Before you buy any salvage title car, do yourself a favor and call your insurance company. I was considering buying a nice rebuilt 2002 325I (black, tan, 5 sp) with 75k miles - supposedly was only hail damaged. The guys wanted $6500.00. I talked with my agent and he said that most insurance companies will only pay around 30% of retail value for a totalled rebuilt car. I know that is a worst case scenario, but it still did not sound like a good investment to me.

^ this. My insurance company won't even insure a salvage vehicle.

Ahh alright, thats a lot to think about. Would it be more cost efficient to buy a slightly higher mileage car? I'm just a freshmen in college so i won't have a lot of money to spend on parts (i can do all the installation myself).

Op, that seller was not forthcoming with information when asked. Ad says " CAR HAS NO MODIFICATIONS DONE....EVERYTHING IS IN GREAT WORKING ORDER."

The first thing I notice is an aftermarket front M3 style bumper for sedan....not OE. Then if this car is a ZHP, why does it have the sport steering wheel instead of the M-spoke steering wheel? Instrument cluster has been changed out as well. ZHPs come with red needles and a 6800 RPM red line. I don't know.....if it were my money, I'd stay clear of this....not worth the disappointment/headaches that will surely follow....

When I lived in Nashville, my insurance company would not insure a salvaged car. I moved to a little town and we get our insurance through the TN Farm Bureau, and I believe those folks would insure anything.

This. I spotted the cluster as well and figured I'd keep my mouth shut because I couldn't tell if it was swapped or not.

Owner probably swapped it out for a non-zhp cluster with low miles for higher re-sale. fishy fishy fishy.

Wow, I completely forgot to check the cluster and whatnot... It's a shame, the rims and interior was beautiful. I guess I'm going to try to do an engine swap! M3 s54 into an e46 3 series!
