Prefacelift Xenon Bulb Replacement

Is there a demo on how to replace the xenons on a prefacelifted model? I can only find videos of newer models that have a case assembly that makes it seems pretty easy, but it looks like I have to remove the actual headlight to access my bulbs. Any insight?

Thanks

No, you dont have to remove the headlights if you are replacing the bulbs.

Just remove the rubber boot, then the bulb holder, then the bulb.

Pre-facelift and facelift for sedans are same except for the shape of the head lights.

My assembly box is covered by the front brace bar though... it looks like you either need to remove it or have very tiny hands. I'll try to snap a photo to show

Do you have stock headlights or aftermarket?

Even if you have to remove the headlights, it should be remove the trim below the headlight, remove the turn signal light(one Screw) and then 4 screws on the headlight housing and it will slide out.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I have round rubber boots (a pain to put back on, btw) and was originally looking for a plastic box like on the newer models

Yup the rubber boots threw you off.
I believe all e46 have the rubber boots on the headlights.
May be the e90s and f30s have plastic cover.

Simple was is also to take a 8mm socket and take out the two bolts on the back of the headlight, then the entire assembly will slide forward giving a lot more space.
