I think ETs fail often from overfilling and/or other cooling system issues.

I would go OE, though I'd also trust Meyle (you sure that isn't Mahle?).
Mahle, to my knowledge, does not manufacture cooling parts. They do filters.

And I have a feeling CoolXpert is OEM for the ET, but not sure. Just go Genuine.

BEHR is the OEM for our ETs, but if you read around, they are manufactured in China and are not as good as the ones with BMW stamp on it. I had both in my hands couple of months ago, OEM BEHR and OE BMW. They seamed to be identical in every way other then the BMW stamp.. quality seamed to be just as good, except the plastic on the BMW looked to be slighly lighter. Maybe they use more of the fibers in the BMW then they do in the others.

For the price I would go with OE... its about $20-30 more but you don't have to worry about it till end of the car's life (practically). Origianl usually lasts at least 100K+.

According to YVES at BMAPARTS, CoolXpert is OEM for our expansion tanks.

OEM one was improved.

We don't know how failure-prone it is compared to old, but my guess is they fixed whatever that problem is.

I am going to keep my new ET until it busts, or after another like 150k miles, because when they say they have improved the part and fixed the problem, I trust that the engineers actually solved the issue and it has been improved.

As far as I'm concerned, my coolant system is rock-solid and I have no reason to mess with it ever again. Except changing coolant every 2 years.

I e-mailed Graf about how long their WP lasts since they improved it, but they never got back to me.

I don't know the exact date, but the old P/N was 17137787039. The new P/N is 17117573781.

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-17...-x3-x5-30.aspx

It happened some time after the E46 was no longer produced. My 2004 car had the 039 tank.

Also interesting to note is that RealOEM mentions nothing of the old 039 tank. Usually they have a "Superceded by..." marker when something has been improved later on, but it seems BMW had completely gotten rid of the old tank entirely.

They probably did this because they knew the extent of the failures and did not want any dealer ordering the old part by accident.

You sure there's nothing wrong with you? Looks to me you're the one with the aggressive/physically threatening/e-gangster posts because i simply told you this has been discussed before. Yes you learned something and that's good. I'm just telling you if you search, you'll find it's been discussed numerous times. Is that a lot to take?

Looking it up I think it changed in June of '07

Interesting it wasn't listed on realoem. But doing some searches in the BMW ETK it's listed there. realoem is just not updated like other databases in this particular part
