Sensor on right front

I have a 2002 BMW 330CI. I'm missing a sensor on the right front underneath the car that is mounted onto the splash guard.I'm trying to figure what the sensor it is.

He may well mean the left side, but there is a sensor on the right side as well. It's possible that he's talking about that one. Mine's there and AFAIK it's working. Still, I am curious to know what it is.

The left (US driver) side has the probe looking temperature sensor mounted to the splash guard. The right (US passenger) side has a thick disc shaped something mounted to the splash guard, facing down. If I recall correctly, it has two wires connected to it.

If I remember correctly, the right side one is to do with headlight washers. Could be wrong. If you don't have the washers, the sensor wouldn't be there either. Something like that.

I do not have headlight washers, but I do have the sensor.

Passenger side one is the temp sensor for the headlight spray heater. I think everyone got that regardless. I had mine off for a couple of months with no adverse effects.

Good to know.
I notice that the windshield washer nozzles (or something very close to them) have an electrical connection with wiring running there. Are these nozzles heated? If so, would the sensor we are talking about be involved with that?

The "hockey puck" on the right side (US passenger side) is the thermal switch for the heated windshield washer nozzles.
