Tuning/Programming Software?

Hey guys, I had a quick question. I have an 04 m3 that I would like to make a few changes to (turning off drl, tuning out cats, etc) and I was wondering what the top independent tuning software is at the moment. I have heard of many through the years but the 'top' one always changes. I have a carsoft tool and a obd2 to usb connecting cord but no software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And no, I do not and will not go to the dealer for anything. Thanks!

I've seen many commercial tunes for the M3. I don't like any of them. Why? They are too aggressive with timing. Best tune is the stock tune, just code out what ever you want to code out. There are plenty of instructions on another forum.

I'm not really concerned with tunes, like i said coding, I need the software to control the coding.

There's a software in the sub forums for tuning, otherwise the dealer can turn off the drl

Ahh I see the misunderstanding here. You are not looking for performance firmware upgrades for the DME, you want to programm on and off features of the car. With BMWs you use the BMW programming tools. For the E46 the software you are looking for is called NCS Expert (BMW factory software) and the E46 community made NCS Dummy (easy to understand version).

To make any kind of programming changes on the E46 you will need to get the BMW K+DCAN cable. There is no way around this step, you need that cable to proceed and you can not do anything without it.

Guys, I realive I need to just use NCS dummy with the data from NCS Expert, the issue I am having now is that I can't actually locate anywhere to download NCS expert.
