how to clean BMW 330i mudflap mark

i recently bought bmw 330i 2004 and the previous owner installed mudflaps and had it for 8 years. but i removed these today and there are marks (stains) left on where the mudflaps were.
i tried with mothers clay bar and couldnt get these marks off the paint.
could some one help me how i can remove or clean these dirty marks?

Maybe an aggressive rubbing compound? Or wet-sanding..?

i used meguiars ultimate compound
and it worked perfect. removed all the dirt marks and cleaned all up
highly recommended product.
