Locked Your Keys in the Car ?
I haven't tried this from an article below...but I will ! I have been told that it works if you lock your keys in the car...
Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be thousands of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk). Editor's Note: I didn’t believe this when I heard about it! I rang my daughter in Sydney from Perth when we went on holiday. She had the spare car key. We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

This sounds bogus, but would be very cool if it worked. If it's only a troll, it's a rather good one!
Can't hurt to try, I suppose. It's on my list unless I hear here that it is just a hoax.

I would have to say this is VERY unlikely this could actually work. There are also WAY too many variables for this to work consistently even if there was a situation where this would even work.
So unless people can put up proper details, with things like location, mobile phone provider, mobile phone model number, mobile to mobile or landline to mobile phone and so forth, I say this is like the tennis ball trick to unlock the car door!!

DMAX, search YouTube for the tennis ball opening the car door.
You might be able to use this on one of your stand up routines??

It would be nice if it was possible, but it is not. The frequency range that a phone can transmit is different than the car antitheft system.

Will do, jfoj. This isn't some sort of perverted Griffin trick you're playing on me to find something totally unrelated about tennis balls, is it. Novabimmer suggested something with tennis balls which I think is physically impossible!

RF is in the light spectrum and produces no sound waves. I can't believe anyone would be gullible to even to remotely think that was possible.

My next show is tomorrow night in Springfield, NJ. See link in my sig file. I need to do more NYC shows, I know, but as a starting 'comic,' it's expensive for me to get there from NJ, and my local place is so close... If you want a weird time, come down. There are some in this coming 'New Talent' show that will be very funny...and some, even less funny than me! Hope so anyway! It's comedy in the raw and pretty interesting and entertaining.

I have tried this on an aftermarket alarm and it works. I have not tried it on OEM systems. I will try on my E46 when I get a chance and report back.

Incredibly false. RF and human sonic range are totally different.
Now what you could try is sticking the key in the microwave at home and then sticking another microwave near the car and turn both on high for 59 seconds. That will unlock the car.

And I'll bet that your aftermarket remote was near enough to be within its normal range and had nothing to do with the cell phones. Try it from several miles away next time. Also try it with and without the phones.

I was actually at work when I did that, 75 miles away.
