control arm bushings

2003 325XI
went to change the control arm bushings and the underneath is nothing like the pictures on DIY. I have a heavy rectangle looks like engine support covering the bushings, ay a complete loss, cant get to the bushing housings.

XI bushings are different. For the driver's side, the bolts come out from the top side without an issue. For the passenger side, you will have to pull back the exhaust heat shield to take the carrier out. Be very careful when you take them out and put them on to not strip or break the bolts. This is a good time to get a ratcheting 16mm wrench as a socket likely won't fit in there.

Good luck.

bushings

thanks, figured it out, had to put a jack under the engine and let the rear brackets down, went like a charm after that.
