Hey guys..,
I would offer to do it.., it's simple enough and it only takes about :30 min. if you want to do it right.

However, I hope you get someone in your area.. 914 area code..., "Westchester County", New York...
I don't really think you want to mail out your key...

You should try it, just make sure you have the correct replacement battery, a soldering gun and about an hour to kill...

Good luck...

Before you crack it open, have you tried recharging it?

That is correct, no other way to charge..., what I'm thinking it is, it's that you aren't programming the keys right...
Take a look at the video on YouTube..., there are a few there.
Don't have access to my computer just now, but you can do a search for "BMW key reprogramming"...

1. Press and hold the open door
button...(don't let go until the end)
2. Still holding to key/button, insert key and turn to position ONE or TWO for a few seconds...
3. Still holding the button, Remove key and press the centre LOCK button three times. When you press the lock button the third time and release it, you must also let go of the door open button.
It takes timing, at least for me... It takes me about three times to get it right...

I think Autozone has a remote tester. It can tell if any signal is being emitted from your key. We used to do that at Circuit City to confirm IR remotes by pointing at videocameras, but I don't know how radio remotes are tested.

I offered to do it for an agreeable price ( 50-60% less than a new key ) including the new housing and battery but he refused
