Maximum PSI E36 M3 - New Stock DME record: 1041whp SAE/788tq

We have recently made some great numbers with a bunch of stock ECU powered cars. It got me thinking(never a good idea) - Why not put my car back to a stock ECU? It would showcase Nick@ Technique Tuning's software capabilities and show what a well sorted hardware and software package can do in real world environment. While we are at it, why not try and maximize the area under the curve for a more potent powerband?

So I did just that. We pulled the trusty DTA S80 standalone and went back to a factory M3 ecu. I choose an Eboost 2 boost controller for its flexibility, and a racelogic traction control system for launch control, traction control, and flat shifting capability. I also switched to a Precision 71mm turbo from my larger comp 80mm billet turbo. The goal wasn't to make the most peak horsepower - we wanted to shift the area under the curve to the left. I am pretty happy with the results!

*******EDIT******
New dyno from today with C85 over yesterday's E85:

Amazing mike!

Daaaammm impressed! How the heck do you guys do this?

Make sure you post this on German Boost too so the snobby AMG guys see it!

So the smaller Precision 71mm turbo made more whp and torque than than the Garrett 80mm? Wow!

Can't wait until Nick tunes my stage 2.5!!!!!

It's simple - Nick is a software wizard, and we know a thing or two about building turbo BMW's

Mike:

Awesome work as usual. I've always said the BMW DME hardware is more then capable of high hp and drivability, as you've said, it's all about the software.

Congrats on the record.
