Can an e46 be siphoned?

Anyone with experience who has actually siphoned gasoline out of their tank?

Like when you needed to replace the fuel pump or drop the tank?

Recently during the east coast gas shortage I was considering giving some of the gas in my full tank to someone who needed it more than I did.
Can you get a poly tube into the fuel filler down to the bottom of the tank to siphon gas out? Any problems doing it?

According to a recent piece in the tech letters section in Roundel, they're not siphonable.

To the idiot above with the "puking" signature pic - that might have been funny for about a millisecond, if you're 13. You're using it in your SIG? Good gawd dude, get a grip and remove that crap.
