E46 keeps stalling and sparatic rpms??

First post here on e46fanatics also a little new to bmw's, i have had my 1999 bmw 323i w 218k for almost a year now without any major issues untill now.

On my way home from work today it was stoping by walmart and in the parking lot while at a stop it feels like my car just shut off. So i glace at my gages and all the lights are on but the temp gage is reading normal.

So then after a few trys my car starts up again but now the check engine light is on as well as this exclamation mark next to the gear indicator. Since i was only a 2min drive from home i put my hazard lights on and drove 15mph back home.

On the way to my house while moving the same thing would happen. Car would stall and all the lights came on.

I got a friend to drive me to an auto store so i could change the oil thinking this could be the issue, if anyone has any advise please help. Also if i posted this is the wrong spot let me know
