Help with rear tial light problem

I have a 05 sedan and having the signal in dash board that i have a blow out bulb put check them and thay are all good. Read the diy fix were i put an other wire for the ground but still have the indication. I notice that the plug was melted were the ground wire goes (point # 2) so i put some electrical tape and that the bulb carrier also have the point #2 that is tha ground point a bit melted also.
After putting the additional wire for ground do i have to remove the positive terminal of the battery to reset the computer or do i have to do something else.
