Tow Hooks?

I will admit I am a bit fresh to certain aspects of the car culture. BUT I'm super curious about this one: How come i see many folks drive around with the racing tow hooks attached to their cars? I'm from Brooklyn, and there's nooo way I'll believe that half of these cats have even been to a track at least... an automobile race track, that is LOL; or is it that they know they owe for tickets and they're lessening the chances of their ride getting scratched when it gets TOWED LMFAO

If that's the case SHEEEEIT< i might as well get one too! LOL

Because they think they're cool and are race car.

They're probably also the same people that do this.

Quick Towing access for when your cooling fan explodes without warning destroying your radiator, other neighboring parts that may fall victim to projectile fan blades.....

When I was shopping for my Cabriolet, I saw a Craigslist ad and the front bumper had the Tow Hook in. I asked the poster why the car had been towed and he said it hadn't, he had the hook in because he said 'it looks cool'. I knew then his car was not for me.
