Not sure what a donk is, but I'll google it eventually.

OP...some responses here seem rather un-neighborly.

If it was me, I'd first get a great cornbread recipe and cook it up.

Then, I'd walk across the street, knock on the door, introduce yourself, and ask whether cornbread could help you move a sofa for a minute or two...some 'credible' favor you need him for.

When you're done, give him some money and cornbread.

Maybe they don't have a TV and like watching you.

Oh, also, I think I'd make a nice sign to display on your front lawn that says something like, "I like Blacks" so they won't be suspicious of you anymore. Also, get your hot gf to put on shows for them in your front window.

Do I have to do everything around here?

If your neighbors get too scary looking set up some Kevin traps...

Just in case you need to intimidate them with some marionette friends........

I have a HUGE mirror that would almost completely cover the large front living room window, maybe if I put it up in the window they would catch their own reflection every time they attempt to spy on me. Watching them watching me and inadvertantly watching themselves...

dmax I like your suggestions, I may have to do this but I am going to have to have another adult there so I am not alone in a house with the one they call Cornbread

If cornbread is handicapped, as I think you inferred, then just remember that people are animals...move slowly, be friendly. Pretend that you didn't notice them noticing you at all.

Also, maybe the woman that moved out really doesn't like you and might have said something like "Darren really hates black people, but he's an okay guy otherwise," just to mess with you a bit! Also, you really should remove that 1930's black jockey lantern holder from your home...could give off the wrong signals.

(Coming soon to a comedy club near you...maybe!)

you can stop at 'cornbread'.

Be a nice neighbor to them and I bet they'd grow to trust you, maybe more than you would them!

Ah, try this. Buy a gerbil and cage and ask cornbread if he'd be willing to come over and feed him twice a day...that shows you trust him.

Then, leave Playboys around your place for him, along with some kleenex boxes. Again, be nice...and they'll learn to trust you.

Ask them to do you a favor...offer favors (not the kind Gheybe is thinking!).

People are animals. You describe them as such. The first thing you should be thinking about if you feel uncomfortable about them, is getting them to trust you. If you happen to bake...offer them some of your cookies. Ask Cornbread if he wants to make a few bucks helping you do stuff. Sounds like he'd be great at cleaning your icv!

Occasionally leave dead animals on their doorstep, it's a sign dominance. Or lit candles.

There is a lot of funny things pointed out in this thread, but really, don't "mess" with them. You cant win at thier game because there are no rules. Just carry on,as if every thing is cool.
When I first moved away from home my new neighbor was literally a crack whore with a special kid. Her girlfriend would beat her in the front yard. Kids would rumage through piles of trash on garbage night to find heavy things to throw at cars and street signs. And as I was moving out someone ran into my apartment, and stole my tv. Fvcker ran down the street with it.

Good luck. You'll need it.

Exactly.

From an anecdotal POV of a non-White male, I've noticed that the overwhelming instances of racism I've witnessed in the US has been non-Whites on White. I won't mention which flavor of non-White, because I don't want to be labeled a 'racist'.

My Ride: Is in a salvage yard
Update: After work yesterday/last night I moved the majority of my stuff into the house (enough that I slept there last night). No lights were on in their house the entire night nor did I see anybody outside.

Also, I'm going to proposition Cornbread to do my yardwork next time I see him.
