Tire Size on a 2002 XI

I'm in the process of buying an '02 330 XI with sport and premium packages. The car has new all season tires on the Style 98 rims. The tires are 205/50/17.

I have full winters (Hankook iPike) on my 2000 323 ci that I would like to use on my XI. The tires are 225/45/17's. They sit on after market alloys that I'm assuming are 8X17.

Will these rims and tires fit on my new car?

Thanks...

I have style 96 BMW wheels on my 02 330xi (17x8) with 225/45 17's on it without issue (so far). Been told these are the widest you can go with 17's.

I'd imagine if you had issues with offset you could get some spacers to move them out a bit.

The usual issues with offset is if the wheels are too far out, not the other way around. I they work on the 323 without issues, I'd imagine they would be fine on the Xi.

Also, cool to see someone else from the Wood on this forum!

If they fit properly on your 2000 323ci, then you should have zero issues with them on your 330xi

Interesting, on my XI the stock wheels were VERY close to the suspension, and the new ones seem even closer but do not hit. My understanding was that was the issue with wider wheels, possibly rubbing the shocks or other undercarriage parts. That's why I recommended spacers if needed.

Learn something every day, I guess!

^ Unless the offset number is very high (typically not), the rubbing will be on the fenders, not the suspension.
