Exhaust

I am looking for a new sound for my 2003 330xi. I have been looking at Dinan and active autowerks. Other suggestions?

Headers sound amazing with an oe back section, however there is the issue of running catless..

I probably won't be change my header for a while. I don't wanna mess with my cat. That's why I was going to just get a cat back exhaust.

Have you done the golf tee mod? It's free(ish) and makes the car a little louder.

That's badass so would it act as a free flow exhaust?

I forgot to mention I have a aftermarket exhaust. It's cheaper muffler.

No, it has no performance gains whatsoever. Just gives a bit deeper note while you are lower in the rev range.

If you have aftermarket exhaust then you probably don't have the flap valve anyway.

Yea I just looked and that hose is already pulled. But I wanted a deeper note and more of a gain.

You won't get any gain at all from replacing the exhaust with something else. The car wasn't designed with much bolt on performance potential from the factory. This is why the M3 is an entirely different car.

If you want any noticeable gain, your only option is ditching the cats for headers. This will obviously cause a CEL and cause you to fail any emmissions testing.

So I would have to pretty much change the whole exhaust system to get any difference.

Golf tee mod is hardly a mod.. Most people including myself can't tell the difference in sound and it has no performance gains at all. Cat back exhaust is more of what your looking for, but considering the golf mod takes a couple of seconds give it a try... Then go buy your exhaust!

Well that's what I ask at the start. What is a good exhaust company to get good gains and a good sound?

You been told over and over you will get NO gains from a muffler. Get headers or settle for better sound only with a new muffler.

Some people say your sound will change after installing new headers is that true? And I am looking for a deep aggressive sound, but I don't know where to look.

Both my 128 and 325 have Stebro rear mufflers, they are local for me.
The mufflers were built and installed in their shop.
