Replace "Trims" Dashboard e46
Hi everbody,
I need to replace the red plastic receivers because this are damaged. My question is this enter into vertical? Is there way to wheel them after they fit to horizontal? Or someone knows how to put this on horizontal, because I'm afraid of broken, because the hole is narrow. If you know a way to fit more easily i would appreciate your help. Regards, |

Is the trim piece falling off? If not I'd just leave it.
The metal pins on the back of the trim are supposed to be slid through the metal receivers inside of the orange things. My orange things are always all over the place and sometimes attached to the trim pieces instead of the dashboard foam. If the trim is staying in place OK then there's probably not much reason to replace them... but if you were curious, the part number is 51458266814 I think. Check that for yourself before purchasing. |

They twist into place.
Enter vertical, twist to lock in horizontal position. and vice versa. A flathead screwdriver does the trick to rotate them. The ones you have shown are in their locked position.

^agreed
since I've replaced my trim on my E46s a few times the orange clips sometimes break. I just twist/turn them to get out (large flat screwdriver) and replace with new.

Then the orange clips come by vertical, then with the help of a screwdriver try to rotate 90 º (horizontal) is that?
I got it, thanks! Instead of a screwdriver, I used the ignition key of own car, and served to perfection! Last edited by efest; 11-11-2012 at 11:58 AM. |
