Koni FSD reliability
Anyone have FSDs long-term? Any problems?
I am debating between the FSDs and Koni Yellows. The FSDs sound great but I'm concerned about the reliability of the FSDs. There are lots of reports of FSDs failing prematurely, but are they the exception or the norm? Some say Koni has "fixed" the problem but I'm not convinced. Should I just get the Koni Yellows? I had the FSD's for like 20k miles on my 330 and they worked great. They are awesome shocks.
Have the Yellows now and they're also great, but not as smooth on rough roads.

I have searched extensively and there are some complaints of QC problems or early failures (eg 10-20k miles). The FSDs are more complex than other designs, and are really not designed for lowered cars, so they won't be as bullet proof as koni yellows or bilstein sports.
I also read a lot of very positive reviews. Given the FSDs are consistently back-ordered, a lot of people are using them so a few comlaints in the forums should be expected. I went ahead and purchased a set of FSDs since I'll be using them with the factory sport springs they were designed for. They aren't installed yet but I'll write a review once I have a chance to drive on them for a while. |

I would probably go with the Koni Sport Yellow Shocks. I have plenty of customers who have been extremely satisfied with the ride quality and longevity of the shocks. The Koni Sport Yellow Shocks also carry Koni's limited lifetime warranty as well.
